are starting to get professional! The PADI Assistant Instructor course is designed to
provide PADI Divemasters and those certified
to leadership levels with other diver training organizations with additional training as
instructional assistants and dive educators. This course builds upon your abilities to
organize and supervise dive activities while concentrating on developing teaching skills.
Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical application, you learn how to
construct effective teaching presentations and conduct the following PADI courses and
programs: PADI Skin Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, Discover Scuba, Discover
Local Diving and Discover Snorkeling.
This course will also familiarize you with PADI Standards and Procedures,
basic marketing ideas, sales philosophy and legal responsibility and risk management. The
PADI Assistant Instructor rating is a prerequisite to enroll in non-diving Specialty
Instructor Courses (e.g. Medic First Aid, Oxygen First Aid, Equipment).
The PADI Assistant Instructor course consists of three modules:
Academic Training: Candidates andidate
will be familiarized with course structures, standards, procedures and curriculum as well
as lesson planning and delivery techniques for Academic, Confined, and Open Water teaching
presentations. Further lectures will focus on the PADI System
of Diver Education.
Self Study:
By using the Assistant Instructor Workbook, the candidates
are guided through and become
familiar with the PADI Instructor Manual, one of the most important tools to fulfill your
duties as an Instructor. The AI Workbook contains information about PADI
and the Dive Industry, the Business of Diving and other relevant topics for the diving
professional.
As well you will find 10 Knowledge Reviews. Filling in these Knowledge Reviews provides an organized
study method, which allows for self-paced learning.
Practical Application:
This module consists of practical activities that enable candidates to
gain teaching experience.
AI Candidate have two options to satisfy this requirement. During either option,
candidates practice delivering academic, confined water and open water teaching
presentations for those PADI programs they can conduct as a PADI Assistant Instructor.
Option A:
Practical training exercises, where candidates and staff role-play as instructor or
students. This option is designed for the candidate short on time and can be completed in
6 days.
Option B: 
The purpose of this option is to enable candidates to gain practical teaching experience
by working with real students and questions in PADI courses. By teaching
portions of various courses, candidates obtain hands-on experience interacting with real
students,in real situations and learn team teaching techniques by working closely with a
PADI Instructor. The internship option is our preferred method to
help the candidate to become an experienced PADI Assistant Instructor.
This option can be completed in 2 - 4 weeks. .
